Question any golfing addict on the perfect spot to play a few holes, and it’s likely there will be several factors he considers. Any good golf course must contain the right blend of different elements within each hole to give each one an individual characteristic. Stunning scenery is a definite bonus as well. If the course is a stern but fair test of his abilities, then so much the better.

A good golf course can be completely changed by strong winds or rain, so the weather is also a crucial factor. Perfect golfing conditions are not perfectly still, but offer some wind whilst still being pleasant to play in. No golfer likes to play in strong winds and driving rain, particularly if they are struggling with their game at the same time.

Another big factor is the associated amenities of a course, and particularly the clubhouse. Having good companions and a comfortable refuge to retreat to after a long round are essential to the reputation of a good golf club, which should also offer good quality refreshments. At the end of a difficult round, being able to chew over the details with companions is important.

One country that offers ideal golfing is Portugal, especially in the Algarve region. Often located close to tourist centres, the many quality clubs provide really good golf in fantastic surroundings. Golf aside, there is always plenty to do in the evenings, with bars and restaurants and lots to enjoy in the region’s resorts.

Holiday appartments are in-demand, despite the availability of the Algarve’s hotels, as many appreciate the benefits of self-catering. By searching the internet, excellent Algarve holiday accomodation is easy to locate. With all kinds of different properties to choose from, browsing the different options is easier than ever. Naturally, those away from the marina are likely to be available at lower prices for the most part.

Staying in Britain when going on holiday has become more and more popular over recent years. One of the best ways to enjoy the countryside is to go on a touring camping trip. To get the most out of your holiday, there are a few things that need to be prepared before you go.

Firstly, it is important to know where you are headed to. Choose your destination and decide upon the best way for you and your family to get there. If you are travelling in two or more cars, it is a good idea to establish a few meet up points on the way so you can all have a break from driving and make sure everyone knows where they are going. Camp on a designated campsite to avoid breaking the law or getting moved on by angry land owners.

Now that you know where you are going, it is time to consider what you are going to pack and take with you. Be careful not to overpack. There’s not a great deal of point in weighing your bag or car down with a load of things that aren’t going to get used. It is important to make sure you have enough though, particularly if you are going somewhere off the beaten track. If it is going to be difficult to get hold of food, be sure to pack enough food for three meals a day and an optional snack. Bottles to carry water are also vital. If you are bringing food that will need heating up, don’t forget to take a portable stove and enough fuel for the duration.

It is also vital to take a fully stocked first aid kit and a torch with plenty of spare batteries. If you are allowed to have a campfire on your site, old newspapers can be used for kindling.

Obviously you will need a tent. It is sensible to put up your tent a few days before you leave in your garden. This trial one will help you determine if there are any holes that need fixing or any bits that are missing or need replacing.

Enjoy your trip!
